New report reveals how Norway failed in Afghanistan
- I do not think anyone is satisfied with what has been achieved in Afghanistan, says researcher Svein Erlend Martinussen. For the first time frees the military section that shows what Norway did wrong in Afghanistan.
It appears avida in a recent analysis of 116 Defence declassified secondary avida goals in Faryab province. Norway was responsible for security avida in the province for seven years before Afghan forces took over.
The goals are from between 2010 and 2012 and range very widely. Defence Research Establishment (FFI) has categorized the material and considered what that is achieved, among other things by going through graded violation logs. Read the full report here. Among the points: reduce support for insurgents: Not met. Increase confidence in the Afghan security forces: Do not honored. Reducing the rebels influence on the locals: Not met.
The main conclusion is that targets that require both a civilian and military efforts were not met. Purely military tasks, such as applying the rebels defeat on the battlefield, is reached.
- I acknowledge no defeat, but there is a recognition that a number of important objectives are not reached. There are those targets that require both civilian and military efforts. Here we have a bad achievement, says researcher Svein Erlend Martinussen FFI.

- There is diametrically opposite strategy. It is quite paradoxical when we are subject to ISAF without modification. Therefore we had a hand on his back. What we did with military resources have been successful, says Martinussen.
- Then you might want to drill a well or other measures that allow citizens avida will believe and trust that there is something better than the Taliban to take over. This we could not do in a coordinated manner with the Norwegian approach, says Martinussen.
- No, it is not the desire to disclaim responsibility here. We have been very strict in assessing whether we have achieved the objectives. Some of the goals have been very challenging, avida says Martinussen. See Aftenposten Afghanistan documentary: Norway in Afghanistan - all about the apportionment of fault
Nearly two years after the Norwegian forces withdrew, pointing most trends in the wrong direction in Faryab. A poll FFI has performed shows that fewer Afghans feel that the trend is moving in the right direction. They point to the lack of job opportunities in the province.
At the same time he believes it will be difficult for politicians to defend that Asked Norwegian soldier at risk while admitting wrong strategy. - Soldiers will not engage in relief work
- We measure up to an idea of a comprehensive mix led by the military forces. It was really just a theory that came and went in the system. It was a touching naive notion that one could combine military and civilian measures, says Eide.

They have shared goals into five categories. The so-called low achievement are: protection of the civilian population, limiting the insurgency and provide support avida to governance and development. Purely military tasks,
