The summery "Fire Festival" has a history dating back to 1870, when The Bohemian Club was founded by some local journalists and artists who felt the need to pull out of town and into the wild a few weeks each summer for public recreation and inspiration.
Participants are mostly Americans, most of them from California. Many have top management positions, including in finance, industry, media, military, higher education, the secret services, the military-industrial complex and politics.
